It's boiling, the tarmack roads are melting beneath our feet. I've been outside for two hours and i'm already sunburnt. I adore the summer but this heat makes me fed-up, i crave snow right about now. I'm going to have a solero, hope everyone's enjoying the heat.

Feral children.

Did anyone see that program about feral children last night? My friend just sent it to me over msn, it was really quite depressing.
I actually felt quite upset about all of it but especially the story of the fourteen year old they found in LA, in the middle of the city, isolated in her own home. Her father was extremely controlling, her mother was blind and couldn't escape. The girl was left isolated for fourteen years until finally, when the father went out to get some grocerys, the mother and daughter escaped. When the teenager was discovered, she couldn't walk, talk and had to wear nappies. She had a form of a seven year old and the mentality of a very, very young baby. Doctors tried to help her, she did improve but she would never have the ability to develop speech as her brain was now too mature. To this day she's still in adult care.

The one girl was like an animal, her parents neglected her when she was very young, so she gravitated towards the comfort that the local stray dogs could provide her. They looked after her like she was their own and brought her up. When she was discovered she acted like a dog, it was the only thing she knew. She barked, panted, crawled on all fours and wouldn't use her hands to eat food. Although she was able to be helped, at twenty two she still has a low mental age.

I just don't understand how anyone could let a child grow up that way, i can't understand how the parents didn't intervene when they saw their children developing the characteristics of an animal. It's really quite frightening what goes on in this world.
